Pacha Mama

I found myself painting all the little squares, without really knowing why and then we went to Lascaux Cave, and on the way out, high up near the exit, I saw the outline of a square box. I asked the guide if that had been one of the original cave paintings, and she said yes. Then I discovered that the ancient symbol for Earth is a square. That's why she is called Pacha Mama.
Oil on canvas + aluminium tube. 63 x 70.9'' (2017) | Huile sur toile + tube en aluminium. 160 x 180 cm. Je me suis retrouvé à peindre tous les petits carrés, sans vraiment savoir pourquoi, puis nous sommes allés à Lascaux Cave, et en sortant, en haut près de la sortie, j'ai vu le contour d'une boîte carrée. J'ai demandé au guide si cela avait été l'une des peintures de grottes originales, et elle a dit oui. Puis j'ai découvert que l'ancien symbole de la Terre est un carré. C'est pourquoi elle s'appelle Pacha Mama.
